Task/Objective: Select at least two films produced by a group of Native Pacific Islanders (by Samoans, or by Maori, or by Hawaiians), and the readings required for them. Compare and contrast the key visual motifs used in the films for those films. In your analysis of these films, be sure to do the following: Page 1: provide a paragraph summary of the story and a paragraph summary of the producer Pages 2 & 3: analyze the key visual or aural motif(s) by applying appropriate concepts and critical concepts from lectures/readings from Giannetti. Be sure to define your terms and how you are using them, and be sure to analyze specific sequences in the films Pages 4 -6: Discuss the extent, if any, of these films’ membership in the “South Seas Genre”. Do they belong to this genre? If so, why? If not, why not?
