Cultural rubric. Week 3 Submit an evidence-based practice paper about cultural competency in mental health nursing. An evidence-based practice paper allows you to explore best practice and help improve client outcomes on a psychiatric unit. Your paper should describe how you, as a nurse, will include – or have included – cultural awareness in a client diagnosed with a mental illness. The person you describe could be someone in your clinical setting, someone you have worked with in the past, or a theoretical client BUT now must be on the Mental Health unit for this paper. Remember that culture can also include gender equality, sexual orientation, and other cultures besides race and religion – including cultures unique to one particular family. Use the point categories as headings. Your paper body should be at least 3 pages (double-spaced, not including the title or reference pages) in APA Format and include: WK 3 Rubric: Cultural Paper requirements – Describe ONE person on a Mental Health Unit Points-1 Assessment: Discuss what you would assess concerning a client’s culture. Name the culture. 1 NANDA 3 part diagnosis: list 2 MH nursing diagnoses (DX) that this person has or may be at risk for. Include one cultural DX 2 Planning/Patient Objectives: What planning needs to be made to insure the cultural and emotional safety of the client (SMART goals – Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Timed) 2 Implementation/Nursing actions: What are interventions that would ensure the safety of your client concerning culture? Address the patient objectives. 1 Evaluation: How will you evaluate whether your implementation was effective? Make sure parameters are measurable. Use numbers (ie: 1-10 scale, for 3 days, walks 100 feet, at least 3 times daily)) 1 Summary: discuss whether your interventions were successful. What should be changed or improved? 1 APA format, 3 references with in-text citations, body of paper 3 pages 1 Plagiarism, using uncited work or someone else’s thoughts may receive 0 points per course handbook. Total 10 Your paper should utilize proper APA guidelines and include at least three scholarly sources to support your paper.
