The article I chose for this post was the “ Prevalence and
Correlates of Emotional, Physical, Sexual and Financial Bauer and potential
neglect in the United States , the reason why this article was chosen was
because it was interesting, and it takes all forms of abuse and discusses them
and then attaches them to treatment of the elderly. “ Approximately 1000000 Us
Adults has experienced abuse since reaching age 60 years with 2% reporting
physicals abuse and 1.1 verbal abuse” ( Aclema).
The author of this article used the regression technique to not
only help distinguish the about of adults being abused but to also show the
rise as the years go on. The older the individual gets the more abuse they
might experience. “Data showed that abuse of the elderly is prevalent
addressing low social support with preventive intervention could have
significant public health implications.
A conclusion that was drawn from this article was that the elderly
are being mistreated and that is completely wrong, the elderly are the people
that we should be learning from not treated them as if they are not important
at all. The elderly should be respected not taken advantage of, and something
that this areticle really highlighted was the fact that these individuals are
not being treated the way that they deserve.
