Operations management – MBA course Interim assessment: operations improvement rationale Format Written report of 1250 words (+10% tolerance) Task In this assessment, you will critically evaluate the design at any one of these three levels: process, operations, or supply network, and develop a rationale for improvement. Considering the problems or trade-offs discussed on the previous assessment’s forum, write a report which critically evaluates the design of process, operations or supply network (i.e. one of these three levels) in your organisation/industry or an organisation/industry with which you are familiar. You are required to use any set of relevant concepts or frameworks covered in the first three modules. We also recommend you to illustrate any designs (e.g. process map) in your report using the simple tools available in MS Word. Make sure you briefly (less than 150 words) introduce the context at the beginning of your report. You can use the same context as the one you analysed in your previous assessment; however, you need to cite it in line with the AIB Style Guide. Requirements The required word length for this assessment is 1250 words (+10% tolerance). In terms of structure, presentation and style, you are required to use: the AIB standard report format (see the Written report template) AIB-preferred Microsoft Word settings Author-date style referencing, including in-text citations and a reference list. Refer to the AIB Style Guide for further details on the above requirements. You are required to use at least six relevant references from credible sources such as books, academic articles (preferably recent ones), industry reports or magazines, and company document. Your grade will be adversely affected if your assessment contains no or poor citations or reference list, or if your assessment word length is beyond the allowed tolerance level (see Assessment Policy available on AIB website). Grading criteria Your assessment will be marked according to the following criteria: Criterion 1: Extent to which question addressed Criterion 2: Use and understanding of theoretical concepts Criterion 3: Critical reflection and application of concepts to assessments tasks and relevant recommendations Criterion 4: Communication, structure and referencing.
